Nissan sold a version of the Z31 in Japan known as the 200ZR, with an RB20.

I want it.

The want is strong. Dem seats, too.

I should have my father in law accept it and keep it at our house .... I’m in SF. My wife would kill me.

I’m looking at project-grade Z31s on Craigslist myself. Might be fun* to build one of these myself.
*actually a nightmare, probably

Magnificent.

Yeah my friend has a shop that specializes in all Zs, he did one for a girl actually. The 300ZX is the hardest because of space.

Yeah, I know the 32 in particular is notoriously cramped. The 31s I’ve seen in junkyards didn’t look *quite* as bad as 32s, but still not a lot of room.

I just stick with the S30 and have plenty of room, although my air filter is a tight fit.

The only S30s in my price range are more rust than car at this point. Especially on the east coast.

Yeah I would imagine back east, I found mine in a shed in Santa Cruz, I have done some spot repairs, now it is actually a better chassis than new. You can’t see it but under the skin there is a lot more reinforcement. I have had it a few years and did work in stages, I probably spent more on it that I thought I would, like most cars.... I don’t plan on ever selling it but the early cars are going up in value so it’s nice to know my money isn’t depreciating.

I don’t understand the love for the RB20. The SOHC VG30ET has more potential and is easily available in a Z31.
The VG30ET has made more power than any RB20 and the added displacement is an obvious added bonus.
Of course the RB26 is a different story, but if you’re going to stick to 2 liters, just get an SR20.

never heard of it before.
heard of the RB20 , as it was used in Holden Commodores in NZ.
